Legendary Skin Designs in Counter-Strike History. Tier List of Item Series in CS2.

Skins in Counter-Strike have long ceased to be one-time creations; many designers strive to create entire series of skins with unique designs and apply them to multiple weapons. Of course, some simply increase their chances of being included in cases to earn money, but those few who wish to create something truly great usually achieve their goal. Currently, there are many designs and styles that have gained a second life. In this article, we’ll cover those options that have at least 3 items with identical names and are truly recognized by the entire community and even beyond.
Tier-S: Design Legends
Asiimov Collection

A legendary design known for its colors and geometric elements. The skin’s creator, Coridium, is a big fan of science fiction and named the skin series after the legendary writer Isaac Asimov. Not many pay attention to this fact, but it seems the principle “how you name your boat is how it will sail” worked here. After all, a rather simple and straightforward design became known far beyond Counter-Strike enthusiasts, apparently adopting the popularity of its “namesake.”
Printstream Collection

A futuristic design featuring the classic combination of white and black colors was literally destined for success. But undoubtedly, the key to such incredible success lies not only in the contrasting duo. The art is complemented by various pictograms and pearlescent accents that don’t just shimmer in light or dark areas of the map but change appearance as if the weapon was placed under ultraviolet light. Unfortunately, in CS2, this effect has become less vibrant, and fans of this series have been protesting about this for the second year. To be fair, VALVE has already rolled out a couple of updates trying to fix something, but the skin is still far from the CS:GO visual. However, this absolutely doesn’t diminish its legendary status, and this design can rightfully be considered revolutionary, one that many modern skin makers rely on.
Tier-A: Juicy Visuals

Whiteout Collection
Absolute minimalism: total white. Looks fresh, sterile, and bold in its simplicity, but the main feature of the skin is that it’s difficult to find a completely white one without any scratches or chips on the body. Users have been chasing “clean” variants for 10 years, and VALVE continues to add new items in similar colors. In April 2025, we received another skin for the Tec-9 in the Train 2025 collection.
Neo-Noir Collection
A narrative drawing stylized as neo-noir transforms any weapon into an art object that’s impossible to take your eyes off. The design has also gone far beyond the community, and some well-known companies, such as SteelSeries, have released entire peripheral series in this color scheme. We would gladly place this skin in tier-S, but objectively, not everyone likes the rather specific design. Although everything here is top-notch – from the idea to its implementation on various bodies.
Hot Rod Collection
Yes, it’s expensive, but what can you do? The chrome base, filled with red lacquer, conveys the aesthetics of sports supercars. Clean, glossy, with echoes of Ferrari and hot asphalt. This skin is truly iconic and inspired designers for other analogues, such as Blue Phosphor or Carved Jade, thanks to which the phases from the knife skin Waves migrated to regular weapons.
Candy Apple Collection
In contrast to the expensive collection, we decided to add an incredibly cheap classic that won’t spoil any inventory. Classic retro design: red top, black bottom – visual simplicity with old-school chic. Looks like a vintage hot rod, and the only thing that bothers users is the penny price tag, which supposedly lowers its status. But if a product looks good, why should low cost reduce points?
Tier-B: Style with Character

Bloodsport Collection
The red-white-gray base is strewn with texts, fonts, pictograms, and technical marks, as if from the body of a racing car. The design turns out to be really well-developed, but still a bit overloaded and quickly becomes boring. Because of this, we define it in the “normie” category.
Fade Collection
An icon of designs in CS that migrated from knives to regular weapons, but in the CS2 version, they started to mess with the classic a bit and gave it a cheap chrome effect. Certainly, many users might place it even higher in a similar ranking, but in the inventories of pro players, Fade is not found as often.

Hyper Beast Collection
Another cult series, along with Asiimov or Neo-Noir, that went beyond the industry. Colorful nightmares from dreams, recognizable monsters in the style of psychedelic graffiti with bright acidic colors. However, the skin hasn’t stood the test of time, has objectively become outdated, and is losing relevance, which is why it’s in this category.
Cyrex Collection
The Cyrex series faced a similar problem; it’s simply forgotten by many, although it was incredibly popular in its heyday. Smooth industrial high-tech turned out to be unnecessary in the community and now only evokes a sense of nostalgia among veterans.
Elite Build Collection
The latest addition to the middle tier is a sleek black skin that has been capturing attention for quite some time. However, in today’s context, it may only remain here for its past achievements. It’s unlikely we’ll ever see new additions to this series, but we’ll fondly remember it as a pleasant era of the past years.
Tier-C: Solid Middle-of-the-Road

Safari Mesh Collection
Anyone who didn’t have this skin in their inventory – didn’t play CS. Although this take will be relevant for many other color schemes – the African mesh managed to become the face of “penny” skins and for this deserves a place in the penultimate tier.
Boreal Forest Collection
Classic camouflage. Strict military design without excesses, something that many players who love the realism of the shooter like. Also good in combinations with similar gloves and knives.
Blaze Collection
An undisputed legend, but also lagging behind modern design trends. It’s the same as wearing your mom’s wedding dress or your dad’s suit in which they got married. Better for this to be kept in the closet or, in this case, in the inventory, than to go out with it on the server, or better yet, sell it as a rare item that only “connoisseurs” need.
Mecha Industries Collection
The collection was successful exactly until the moment when Printstream appeared in a similar color scheme, but with much more modern and interesting solutions. It’s just like in that meme: “You’re just my pathetic copy! No, no – I’m the upgrade!”
Tier-D: Dark Utility

All these skins have been dropping to us in weekly drops for many years and have really managed to become annoying. That’s all you need to know about these collections.
Night Collection
Dark blue matte surface, restrained palette. Minimalism that is barely noticeable but works for the overall cold style.
Storm Collection
Monotone, cold shades of gray and blue. A minimalist, almost sterile image, like a sketch from an old military prototype.
Urban DDPAT Collection
Urban camouflage in pixel form. Gray tones and geometric pattern create an industrial vibe suitable for concrete jungles.
Orange Peel Collection
Rough street style. Orange-gray pattern through a stencil, as if assembled from random paint spots and tape. The effect of “garage customization” with a touch of chaos.
