Vitality’s Legendary Win Streak: How Did It Happen? Seven Tournaments in a Row – Coincidence or Their Own Era? What’s Next for Vitality?

Vitality's Legendary Win Streak: How Did It Happen? Seven Tournaments in a Row – Coincidence or Their Own Era? What's Next for Vitality?

The most talked-about team of 2025 is undoubtedly the French organization that had an incredible 6 months. During this period, Vitality won 6 trophies, Intel Grand Slam 5, and the Major in Austin – to achieve this, they needed to win 39 matches out of 40. Many have started calling this roster the best in CS history, and in this article we’ll try to figure out if that’s really the case. We’ll recall their winning path, tell how it all ended, and what to expect from them in the future.

February - March 2025. First Steps to Greatness and Closing Gestalt.

IEM Katowice

IEM Katowice

Vitality’s victory march began at the legendary Spodek Arena, which is significant for all players. It was precisely the Katowice trophy that the French captain was missing from his full collection, and he certainly wasn’t planning to end his career until he raised it above his head. After a rather disastrous start to the season, Vitality didn’t arrive at the tournament as favorites, but they certainly were among the teams expected to reach the playoffs.

They started the tournament rather awkwardly – the victory over 3DMAX wasn’t so easy and required overtime on the first map to determine the winner. Then three maps against FaZe – a principled opponent, since it was from them that Vitality took ropz. And then everything went like clockwork – apEX and company didn’t lose a single map and even closed out Team Spirit 3:0, not giving donk even a chance.

Then there was a long break and we saw Vitality again only a month later in Stockholm, where the event was held in studio format. Interestingly, the first game of the tournament was again quite difficult and Vitality dealt with MIBR only on three maps. Many even began to suspect that the players had lost their form, but then confident victories again allowed them to lift the cup and, most importantly – secure their third victory in the Intel Grand Slam.

Also at this tournament, their rivalry with MOUZ was born, which, as it turned out, would be a red thread throughout Vitality’s entire win streak. At EPL they met twice and the overall score was 5:0 not in favor of the Mice.

The next tournament didn’t take long to wait – again there were two meetings against MOUZ, where they first met in the group and once again beat them cleanly. However, in the grand final, the Mice gave their first serious fight and for the third championship this roster had to play all 5 maps. Total – 10:2 in favor of Vitality and 2:0 in trophies.

For many, it might seem that this $400,000 prize pool tournament isn’t that important, but even here there was again room for symbolism – for ropz this became his first trophy from BLAST series tournaments, which was missing from his personal collection.

April - May. A New Threat That Could Take Everything Away.

During this period, a landmark event occurred – Falcons signed m0NESY and the old duo with NiKo reunited with only one goal – to knock Vitality off the Counter-Strike summit.

IEM Melbourne

IEM Melbourne

Such a chance appeared for them already at the group stage, and on the first map Vitality were losing to Falcons 7-12, but took the map to overtime, took it, and then took the game. Then everyone felt that Falcons’ words weren’t just loud statements, but real power that would give us an incredible rivalry.

And so it happened. The teams met already in the grand final and it was one of the most spectacular and dramatic matches in the new version of CS. First of all, it should be noted that Vitality put at stake – a win streak of 20 victories in a row and the Grand Slam gold bars that were already waiting for them backstage. As expected, we saw 5 crazy maps, and it all ended the same way it began – Vitality took the decisive Nuke after 6:12 and took the trophy from Melbourne along with the gold bars.

BLAST Rivals 2025 S1

BLAST Rivals 2025 S1

After such an incredible stretch, Vitality was only interested in one thing – the Major champion title. But since the Major was still far away, why not grab a couple of trophies along the way.

Vitality again struggled hard in the grand final and snatched victory on five maps. It seems that if not for Falcons, Vitality could have lost their game tone and not created this story. Therefore, the phrase “competition is the engine of progress” is more relevant here than ever.

IEM Dallas

IEM Dallas

The teams had already flown to America to prepare for the Major, but before that they stopped by Dallas to play an IEM series tournament. MOUZ returned to the forefront, who once again met Vitality in the grand final. ZywOo dealt with Falcons in the semifinal this time, so they had to take the exam from the Mice again.

In the final, MOUZ didn’t earn a single point and once again watched as their kryptonite lifted the cup, already the third time this season. Total – 15:4 in maps and 3:0 in trophies.

At the Major in Austin, Vitality debuted 2 weeks later, as teams battled for spots in the third round of Swiss. Their main rivals in the form of Falcons were eliminated along the way and it seemed that the road to championship was paved with a red carpet.

However, everything began with Vitality’s first defeat, where they broke their series of 30 consecutive victories and this happened in a match against Legacy, who shouldn’t have been at the tournament at all. In fact, despite the loud event, everyone understood that this meant nothing. It would seem to be a paradox, everyone waited so long for Vitality to leave the server defeated, but this fact didn’t satisfy anyone. Why? It was a BO1 match, everyone understood that they would make it to the playoffs and many (like us) believed that this defeat would remove the burden of responsibility and only ease the path in the tournament.

And that’s exactly how it all turned out. A routine Vitality victory at the Major. The guys were so confident that apEX appeared in the arena showing the middle finger to the audience, and in team communication you could hear dialogues like “How did you see him? Because I’m ZywOo.”

Beginning of the New Season. How apEX Shaved Off the Win Streak.

Beginning of the New Season. How apEX Shaved Off the Win Streak.

Vitality spent their vacation as eventfully as their season – apEX finally kept his promise and shaved his head, and ropz acquired a new Porsche 911, which once “became the reason” for an individual slump in the game while wearing a FaZe jersey.

Everyone knows that athletes are very superstitious and esports players are no exception. These guys ignored all superstitions and even made an ironic video with the Estonian’s new Porsche, where apEX was going to smash it. In the end, the captain should have at least left a couple of scratches on it, because as we know after this – they left a tournament without a trophy for the first time in 6 months.

The symbolic things didn’t end there – because they lost to exactly MOUZ, to whom they hadn’t lost 7 matches. Moreover, they did it so colorlessly that the team was absolutely unrecognizable, and in team communication you could only hear apEX screaming, trying to wake up his teammates. ZywOo played one of the worst series of his entire career and no longer flexed with loud phrases about his coolness.

“Show-offs lie down, while the great ones triumph.”

Is the Era Over? What's Next for Vitality?

Is the Era Over? What's Next for Vitality?

Vitality needs to regain their greatness and stop being “show-offs.” That’s all that can be said. Right now there’s no team that has shown even 50% of what Vitality showed this spring, so they just need to regain focus and regain the desire to win. However, we’re already hearing phrases from apEX like “I don’t care about BLAST Bounty, I don’t want to win it. I’m interested in EWC and the Major in Budapest.” It’s strange to hear this, but on the other hand – what’s he wrong about? These trophies really don’t mean anything and Vitality calmly skipped events like PGL Bucharest or PGL Astana.

So is the era over? We’ll answer this question at the end of the year. Our prediction – the era won’t end and Vitality will return to a winning streak. Remember the Astralis era, they didn’t win trophy after trophy throughout the year, but they came to Majors and didn’t leave anyone a chance. It’s not excluded that this roster will exist in a similar vein.

At the end of the year, we see Vitality at least in the second place in the world rankings. But if we were to make a specific bet, we’d place them in first with the title of the best team of 2025.
